Storia della razza

E` una delle razze più antiche d'Europa. Originario dell'Olanda e della Germania, veniva usato per la guardia dei battelli che navigavano il Reno. Fa parte degli Spitz Tedeschi (la varietà più grande di colore grigio lupo), ma nei paesi non tedescofoni viene chiamato con il suo nome olandese: Keeshond ("Cane di Kees": un patriota olandese).  Affascina soprattutto il suo bellissimo mantello, lungo e folto che forma una grande criniera tipo leone, e il suo sguardo intelligente e vivace. 
Il suo carattere è meraviglioso: vigile e attento, attaccato al padrone, facile da educare e molto ricettivo, si adatta ad ogni situazione.  E' estroverso con le persone e gli altri cani.

One of the oldest breeds of Central Europe. Originally from the Netherlands and Germany, he was a guard dog on the barges of the Rhine.  The  breed belongs to the family of the German Spitz (the biggest size, with a wolfgrey-colour), but outside of Germany he is being called with his dutch name: Keeshond ("dog of Kees" a dutch patriot).  The Keeshond is especially affascinating for his beautiful long, thick, stand-off coat, forming a lion-like ruff, and for his intelligent and lively expression.  His character is marvellous: alert and guard dog, he is very affectionate to his owner, easy to educate and willing to learn, he'll get used to any kind of situation.  Outgoing with other persons and dogs.
